20. October 2014 - normal school day

We woke up as usual, prepared us for lean-up & went to the Leadwood-Lapa. Then in school we had Regis, Natural Science & Afrikaans (there the whole class had the task to do something “quiet” – nothing more for two lessons). After CREA (I guess kind of art) we had mayo-tuna-toast for Tea. In English we read poems. In Technology we handcrafted some gears – in Maths we learned something about probability. Then in ICT (in the resource centre) we had to record a text.

Lunch was in a hurry again. We ate hamburger, changed our clothes into sport uniform & went back to school. In Social Science we had the task to write something about Nelson Mandela. Then we walked to the sports fields & ran a lot. For one kilometre we had almost five minutes. I ran with Jil, because we had somehow the same speed. After sport I walked with Angela & Jil back to the boarding house. We fetched some nice red apples in the Leadwood-Lapa & ate them in the front from the boarding house. We took a shower. First we just had very cold water for about five minutes, and then we had a bit warmer water. But when I had my temperature, and another girl moved her water from warm to cold (or from cold to warm), the temperature of my water moved, too. Even when another girl turned her water off, my water was off, too. That was funny!

For supper we had meat with pineapple on a stick (German: Spiesli), potatoes with onions & a vegetable-mix. Then in the obligatory Prep-Time we went to the Leadwood-Lapa and wrote on our blogs. There were some very ugly & annoying bugs.

19. October 2014 - KRUGER

4:15 we had to stand up – KRUGER! We made our things in silence, walked without breakfast to the busses and then we drove a very long time to the entry from the Kruger. On the way we saw some animals (also hippos, next to the entry from the Kruger) & a wonderful sunrise! We drove with our bus through the Kruger & saw many animals.

We saw: impalas, hippos, honey badger, bushbabys, monkeys, a crocodile, birds, elephants, giraffes, vulture, eagles, water buffalos, leopard, baboons, lions (one male about five meters close to us), crocodile, water bugs, bush bugs, honey badger, rhino, gnus & zebras.

We ate lunch in a restaurant. Then we drove again through the Kruger & saw many nice things! Back home by the boarding house we ate rice, brown sauce, coleslaw & a bit more…
We were lucky to speak with the guys from the boarding house, because usually we had to write on our blogs. So we had a lot of fun together & went to bed at 9 o`clock.

18. October 2014 - day off

Instead of a quarter to six we had to stand up at half past seven. We did our thing as normally & had breakfast at 8 o`clock. After breakfast we walked to the town – there we bought some gifts. By the typical gift shops next to the street we had to say a very low price, because they said a too high price. So you had to unite you with the people who were there. However, back home we took our stuff we bought till then & did something like an exhibition in our room.

We had lunch later than usual. We ate pizza with mincemeat & cheese on it (not as delicious as in Switzerland). I asked Adrian if I can have his computer. So he gave his computer to me & I tried to put some blogs into the blog. The internet connection was so slow!! That’s why I didn`t put any pictures on it… That’s not because of Adrian`s computer, it`s about the internet connection in general. After about 10 minutes Angela came & wrote on her blogs too – till Jason came & asked us if we can come to the pool too. So we went to the boarding house & asked Jil if she wants to come too. So we had a funny time at the pool – Jil was on Jason`s kayak & did some “turn-overs”. Then back by the boarding house we worked again on our blogs till we had braai (BBQ). We ate a bit & went back to the boarding house. There I wrote on my diary till I was too tired to write anymore.

17. October 2014 - Jessica The Hippo

For breakfast we had mincemeat – very special… In school the other students had Cycle Tests, so we Swiss Exchange Students wrote on our blogs for about two hours. Then we had Mentor (like Regis) and then Assembly. There Mr. de Boer spoke something and then we had Tea. We ate a big Donut & then we had different subjects till lunch. After lunch we were in a hurry, because in the afternoon we went to “Jessica’s Place” (Jessica is a hippo). It rained, so we were a bit wet, but not that much! Then we drove to “Jessica’s Place” and there we were able to feed, pet & kiss Jessica. Angela also SIT ON THE HIPPO!!

I feeded a hippo!

the Baobab-Tree

...DELICIOUS...

We drove back and missed the biggest Baobab-Tree. So we drove back and had a look on it. We also ordered pancakes and I ordered also a warm chocolate – best chocolate I’ve ever had!! We were a nice little group, Sarah and the whole family Alder weren’t with us. A man drove us, who got bitten by a black Mamba (snake). So we took some pictures from the Baobab-Tree and finally we drove back to the boarding house.

There Angela, Jil & I took our computers and went in the room where the TV is and wrote on our blogs before & after supper. For supper we ate hamburger.
