Somebody woke us up at 5:45 a.m. and stood by the door till more than one person said good morning. We didn’t put our uniform on, because weren`t in school on Friday, we were in “MOHOLOHOLO Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre”. Anyway, we ate breakfast with the other boarders and then, when the others had to go to school, we wrote on our blogs. Then we walked to the busses.

We had a leadership with many other people till we pet the “luiperd” (that`s Afrikaans, in English it means leopard). Then we had a private leadership for us. First we went to some hyena, our guide also pet them. After this we went to a weird, red & funny bird, and then into a cage full of eagles (which are special and have white heads) & other types of birds. One beautiful bird we could even pet – so fluffy!!! Then our guide showed us something about cages, which are used by poachers in the bush to catch animals. There were also a lot of bones from animals… Slowly but surely we went into a cage from vulture (I don’t know if that’s the right word, but there were some ugly birds that eat dead animals…). There we might feed them – but unfortunately only three people were allowed to feed them, unfortunately I couldn’t feed them… By the way, we also saw a young giraffe, a young hippopotamus & another young animal that seemed to be a donkey and a horse at the same time. They were able to walk and run all over the place, they were free so we had to watch out, that they didn’t run into us… So the giraffe was very active and played with the other weird animals “catch me” – this was very spectacular! Then we went into a fence, where behind a cage some lions were (male& female). Our guide gave them some meet. The male one had such a big &wonderful mane!! Then we walked to a cage with some luiperds. There the guide threw some meet pieces on the tree. That was the reason why a luiperd climbed on the tree and tried to catch the meet (the meat was on a brunch too far away, that the luiperd was not able to fetch it…). Finally we saw some wild dogs (there aren’t a lot anymore in South Africa – in the Kruger it’s a duty to call the office when you see some, so they can follow them and probably find some more…).

For supper we ate something in a hurry &then everybody had to put on the formal uniform – we Swiss exchange students had to wear our bush uniform. Jackets weren’t allowed, so I had to freeze till the “Price Giving” was over. Because nobody had a torch, so we had to walk back to the boarding house through the deep bush in the dark. First we didn`t find the way back, but then we found the right way and we were happy that we found the boarding house.
